oblique: slanted, sloping
obovate: pertaining to leaf shape; egg-shaped and flat usually with the narrow end attached to the stalk of the leaf
leaf blade: the side of the leaf- the length from the tip to the end, right before the stalk
stigma: the receptive apex of the pistil of a flower, on which pollen is deposited at pollination
anther: the pollen-bearing part of a stamen
dehiscing/ dehisce: to open at certain places, discharging seeds, pollen, or other contents, as the ripe capsules or pods of some plants.
samara: a winged, usually one-seed indehiscent fruit- may be from elm, maple, or ash trees.
